Review
"I like the idea of taking the students to the next level by applying the concepts through critical thinking. I was impressed with the authors’ presentation and style. I think the text reads easily for a student that is new to the discipline and it is not overly simplified for experienced students that are refreshing their skills. I am a visual learner and I like the charts and diagrams presented. The exercises provided give practical insight into everyday situations.” (Roxanne Roske 2011-10-28)
“Beautiful layout invites reader interest―superb graphics, learning aids, self-assessments; excellent theory and research bases; excellent readability, with thorough explanation of terms and concepts; superior chapter on a difficult topic of performance appraisal.” (Larry K. Bright 2011-10-28)
"The text is designed to work in sync with SHRM’s curriculum, and it has some nice pedagogical tools included within and at the end of every chapter.” (Howard R. Stanger 2011-10-28)
“[The authors] have done a great job of offering a variety of activities and setup. Also, there is so much practical application of materials that corporate HR uses. This is a really good chapter.” (Debbie L. Mackey 2011-10-28)
“Excellent organization of the content, I like the use of the questions format for major headings . . . nice writing style.” (Frederick Tesch 2011-10-28)
“I was most impressed with the ease of following the points the authors were making. The way they use headings and sub-headings in covering the information, and break the material into informational blocks, will be very helpful to the student.” (Gary R. Murray 2011-10-28)
“Love the self-assessments! Few texts actually attempt to ‘help’ the students use what they learn!” (Carol Spector 2011-10-28)
“I like the structure and the approach of this textbook. It is more hands-on and will allow me to take my present course to the next level.” (Brenda Smith 2011-10-28)
“[Chapter 8] is definitely one of the most creative, pragmatic chapters on performance appraisal of all the textbooks written.” (Jack N. Kondrasuk 2011-10-28)
“I really like this text. It has solid content, it is very readable, and succinct.” (Barbara A. Crockett 2011-10-28)

Easy to read, easy to understand
By jjames
I was worried that when I got the textbook, it would be just another boring business textbook but the author makes the topics easy to understand with lots of examples. I am very satisfied and excited that my teacher decided to use this for his class. But, he is one of the authors, so it makes sense that he would select this book to use.

HR book for class
By Mike Schackel
The book is fine. It is fairly easy to read, but some of the exercises in it are a little off the mark. Some of the stories have structure problems in the writing, which allows readers to interpret some elements of the stories differently than what I think the authors intended. I could have used more precision in the writing.

Who Edited This Book?
By M. Perry
Contained many editing errors and very repetitive in a single sentence or paragraph. If you overlook those issues, the book was okay.
