Very good manual for the professional hypnotherapist

I like this one because it is concise. Deep Trance covers the main aspects of clinical hypnosis without getting itself bogged down. Because it is a manual, it read in an elegant fashion that makes reading and remembering and 'playing' with the ideas fun.

The Suggestibility Tests Alone Are Worth The Price of the Book

Ledochowsky is an excellent hypnotist, as I have listened to many recordings of him. He is steeped in the Ericsonian and NLP traditions. What is very nice about this book is that it covers both Ericsonian and traditional hypnotic techniques. What many Ericsonian hypnotists miss is that even Ericson disn't always do Ericsonian hypnosis - some people respond better to a more authoritarian approach.

Of note in this book is the coverage of "suggestibility tests". Suggestibility tests are actually done to induce or deepen trance, they are a proof and expectation building exercise and create conscious overload. This book contains a wide variety of them. All hypnotists should have a few of these under their belt.

Succinct and Practical Manual

I should first point that that if you are familiar with NLP, Ericksonian Hypnosis and with techniques from Ormond McGill - you will not find anything new in this book.

In that respect I was initially disappointed when I got this book, but then I have realized that it does fill the need for people who don't like to read a lot and who have attended only one of those three-day or seven-day hypnosis trainings, because most of the stuff that is presented in this book is not even taught in such courses. So for a person with an average hypnosis training, the techniques in this book are bound to take his hypnosis practice to the next level.

This is a very small book - only about 100 pages and the first half of the book takes you through some very basic and essential NLP skills such as calibration, eye-accessing cues, verbal predicates, establishing rapport, Milton Model, and at the end of the book, you'll find a list of hypnotic language patterns. I still believe that any professional hypnotist should take NLP training.

The next section of the book has an overview of different suggestibility tests, inductions and deepeners both from traditional hypnosis, from Ericksonian hypnosis and from Ormond McGill.

I'd like to add few words about Ormond McGill, since he seems to be the only well-known hypnotist in the west who has incorporated what are otherwise known as esoteric techniques in his practice of hypnosis.

You'll find a lot of books on hypnosis that deal just with traditional hypnosis, NLP and Ericksonian hypnosis.

Traditional hypnosis had a path similar to the way that chemistry emerged from alchemy: people kept the mechanical techniques, but left the spirit (life-force) out of it. You still get the results, but there's always something missing there - like a physical body without life in it. That was also the path of modern medicine.

Mesmer was on the right track. He recognized that there is something intangible (life-force / energy) involved in the process - he called in animal magnetism. Benjamin Franklin laughed him away - saying no, no, it's imagination that does the trick. Yet both were right. It is imagination that stirs the energy, the life-force and creates changes. Traditional hypnosis dropped the "working with the energy" bit, and kept for the most part just the mechanical techniques and went on toward the development and use of hypnotic language (as in Ericksonian hypnosis).

In Eastern countries, where this invisible energy is accounted, there are numerous practices for learning how to use mind-power to play with this energy and get some extraordinary results. Ormond McGill published one lovely book "Hypnotism and Mysticism in India" which contains some good exercises. In essence they are very similar to the mind-training exercises described in the book "Initiation into Hermetics" by Franz Bardon.

If you understand the role that "energy / life-force" plays, and you learn to use your own mind-power to manipulate it, you'll get much, much farther with hypnosis. Hypnotic techniques and hypnotic language, together with essential NLP skills will give you "external skills" of hypnosis, working with the energy will give you "internal skills" (I like to refer to them as "internal martial arts" - after all, that's what Oriental "nei kung" practices are all about).

This book "The Deep Trance Training Manual" deals for the most part with "external skills", but there is a brief mention of some methods used by Ormond McGill, and I am very glad that Igor mentioned them. But, there is much, much more to this.

Still, if there were only one practical book on hypnosis that you were buying, I'd recommend you get this one. It has no fluff, only one technique after another. If you put to practice everything you learn in this book, you will be way ahead of any average hypnotist.

Beautiful book about inspiring interiors

What a beautiful book. It's a lovely and interesting concept - after all, who doesn't like a little peek into other people's lives - but also an inspiring one. It's fascinating to see the way that different creative types work, and the spaces that allow them to produce their best work.

Emily Quinton has an easy, engaging and accessible writing style which makes this a book that you can either dip in and out of or sit and read from cover to cover without losing interest. Her text is beautifully accompanied by Helen Cathcart's photos.

I'm going to be giving this book as a gift to many friends!

About the Author
Stephen Kendrick is senior associate pastor of preaching and prayer at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. He is also a screenwriter (Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Courageous) and movie producer and co-wrote the New York Times bestsellers The Love Dare and The Resolution for Men with his brother, Alex. Stephen and his wife, Jill, have four children.

Alex Kendrick is associate pastor of movie outreach for Sherwood Baptist Church. He is also an actor, writer, and director whose film credits include Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and Courageous. He and his wife, Christina, have six children.

ADAM VERNER is a voice over artist and actor. He has worked extensively on stage and screen and narrated a diverse array of audiobooks, from fiction and fantasy to nonfiction self-help and history. He’s been involved in the world of audiobooks since 1980 when his father recorded Golden Books for him to listen to. Adam holds his MFA in acting from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University and his commercial voice over clients include Gillette, Kmart, McDonalds, Harley Davidson, Wrigley, Keystone Beer, and many others. It provides a lot of Biblical basis for a strong marriage along with scriptural references on the advice given. Not at all what I expected. It's more about changing yourself internally than fixing your mate.

God is good

My husband and I were on the verge of divorce. Day 3 of this dare he told me he wanted a divorce. I kept going. This has been exhausting and trying and beneficial to me personally and to my marriage. I have learned to trust in God, how to be a better wife and love my husband. We are so much happier! Thank you for this book

I love this book. It has such amazing and profound insights. I'm in awe every day I read it. And I love how it says that if you can't get to it every day, do a day every time you can, and just pick up where you left off. No pressure means more meaningful devotion and no guilt. I just adore this book so much, and recommend it for parents, potential parents, and anyone who works with children and youth.

The best imaging anatomy texts - bar none!

This series of anatomy texts has no peer. Each section outlines the key facts, presents superbly executed graphics in explanation, then proceeds to meticulously demonstrate the fine details and subtleties of imaging anatomy using well-labelled and captioned images from every imaging modality ---from plain radiographs through ultrasound, CT, MR, scintigraphy, and even PET.

Admittedly the three volumes will set you back nearly a $1,000 if you get the e-book option (very worthwhile to avoid lugging the set back and forth from home to work), but nothing else comes close to such completeness and quality.

This book was for me a real surprise; it's a masterpiece of medical education-skills.The authors show plenty of erudition in their fields,the lay out of the topics is always methodical (starting from embryology,microscopic anatomy,regional anatomy: so you really get the sense of what you are reading,you never get bored with the outline despite the number of pages read).Graphics are very clear (color-coding is very useful),pictures of indisputable quality.Cases are sorted out in a manner that stimulates critical thinking and scientific knowlege-seeking.What strikes is the simplicity & the organisation of the text (never obscure, and always targeted at solving real clinical scenarios).Short; a sublime book that deserves the price.Only thing I can think of that may be improved ,is getting more online/ multimedia/mcQs etc.- references to boost absorbtion of the material.

Ray Holder has worked in the electrical industry for more than 50 years as an apprentice, journeyman, master, field engineer, estimator, business manager, contractor, inspector, consultant, author, and instructor. He is a graduate of Texas State University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational education. A certified instructor of electrical trades, he has been awarded a lifetime teaching certificate from the Texas Education Agency in the field of vocational education. Mr. Holder has taught thousands of students at the University of Texas; Austin Community College; Odessa College; Technical-Vocational Institute of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Howard College at San Angelo, Texas; and in the public school systems in Fort Worth and San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Holder is a past member of the National Fire Protection Association and International Association of Electrical Inspectors, and a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

I spent hours taking the journeyman and master electrician practice tests from this book and it helped me learn how to look up code quickly. The real test, just like the DeWalt tests, had some complex questions where I first had to look up FLA of a motor then determine wire size for specific conditions. There were questions using acronyms and trade terms that are not in the code book. There were also voltage drop and power formula questions.
While this is not a textbook, each question comes with an answer and an explanation of the rationale behind the answer. All calculations are shown and references to the code are given.
Earlier versions of this book came with a CD. This one came with a one-user login to on-line practice exams which are the same as the book, including answers and explanations.
I highly recommend using this guide to prepare for the test.
