I'm a fan of David's books, and he manages to present all the scientific/nutritional information in a way that isn't overwhelming. The fact that he and his family have successfully put it all into practice makes it especially likeable. If they can do it, so can I! :)

How to improve your health in one easy book

Absolutely excellent book on how and why to eat healthier. Thoroughly researched including the latest scientific studies on the subject and includes explanations of outdated research that show how we got where we are today. The cause of today's obesity epidemic, along with a slew of other diseases including diabetes, heart disease and cancers are directly related to the overwhelming amount of sugar that is added to modern day processed foods.
Breaking your addiction to sugar is the key to better health and this book tells you everything you need to know to understand what's going on, how we got in this sorry shape, and what to do about it to fix it for yourself.
This book, along with the other books David Gillespie has written, has changed my life for the better.
